How the T-Board Works

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How does the T-Board work?

Because of its two-wheel design, the T-board is the only street board that truly carves on an edge. Any board with more than two wheels is steering a platform, not carving on an edge. You can have a sports car that corners great, but it'll never feel like a motorcycle. Some 4-wheel boards turn great but, they'll never get that feeling.

That's what the T-board offers, a truly unique carving experience.

The T-board is much like a motorcycle; it gains stability as speeds increase. As long as the screws are all tight, there are no speed wobbles. The caster truck design is the most responsive, fluid feeling there is. It turns when the rider leans their center of gravity to a side and responds just as a snowboard would on its edge in powder.

With a four-wheeled board, you lean your body and you push on the rail of the deck with your toes or heels to try and force the board to stay with you. With our board, you lean your body and the board is right with you. You don't have to force the board to follow.

The T- board's pivot point is the asphalt. G-forces travel down the rider's body straight to the asphalt; creating the purest carve possible.

T-Board Riding Tutorial

Basic Stance

The T-Board is not a skateboard. Your feet should be sideways on the board, not facing front. The Board is directional, so make sure you are moving toward the front end of the board (Tierney Rides Type is toward the rear. Face down the slope, legs slightly bent, shoulders turned forward and arms extended for balance).

Turns

Keep your arms in front for balance. Turns are made with the body—not the feet—by leaning forward or backward and from side to side, toward the toe edge or heel edge of the board for steering and speed control.

Slowing / Stopping

For starters, don’t ride beyond your limits. Okay, that said, the best way to reduce your speed is to carve back and forth into the hill in a swooping "s" until you reach a speed you are comfortable with. The best way to stop is simply to—in a controlled manner—step off of the board.

Safety

All sports carry a risk of injury. Sometimes accidents happen which are truly unavoidable but usually there are ways to reduce the risks of anything nasty happening.

1. Always wear protective gear.Helmets. Knee, elbow and wrist guards.
2. Inspect your board before every session. Check the wheels for excessive wear. Make sure all bolts are tight and the wheels are seated properly. And examine the platform for cracks or stress lines.
3. Live to ride another day. On any new terrain, start slowly. Test the traction limits of your wheels. Carve progressively harder to determine the limits of your comfort zone.
